Aberdeen draw a blank and miss out on top spot

Aberdeen missed a chance to pass Celtic at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Partick Thistle.

The postponement of Celtic's trip to Dundee gave the Dons an opportunity to go two points clear at the summit.

But the closest they went to breaking the deadlock at Pittodrie was when Graeme Shinnie's shot struck the crossbar, meaning Aberdeen moved level on points with leaders Celtic but trail on goal difference.

Third-placed Hearts made up some ground on the top two, ending their seven-week wait for a league win as Dundee United goalkeeper Michal Szromnik's gifts helped them to a 3-2 Tynecastle triumph.

The hosts fell behind to a Billy McKay penalty inside the opening 90 seconds but a pair of Szromnik gaffes gave them a lifeline and Hearts hit back with first-half goals from Gavin Reilly, Prince Buaben and Osman Sow.

Bottom-of-the-table United scored again just before the break through Scott Fraser's free-kick but their chances were killed off when Mark Durnan was sent off.

Teenage defender Ben Hall claimed his first career goal to set Motherwell on their way to a 2-0 win over St Johnstone, while Stephen Pearson was also on target.

The game of the day came in the early kick-off as Liam Polworth's last-gasp strike gave Inverness victory against Hamilton in a remarkable 4-3 thriller at New Douglas Park.

Goals from Greg Tansey and Polworth put Inverness two ahead but Hamilton fought back and substitute Carlton Morris pulled a goal back in the 65th minute before Ziggy Gordon levelled with a header with 10 minutes remaining.

In the 88th minute Tansey restored the visitors' lead with another wonderful free-kick from long distance but Accies raced up the park and levelled through substitute Christian Nade, only to be sunk right on the whistle after three minutes of injury time with another fine strike from Polworth.
